Just in time for the season of love that happens tomorrow with Valentine’s Day, an upcoming artist by the name of Barsheem will release his debut album filled with sentiments of adoration and happiness. Titled, What Is To Be Major, Barsheem has a soulful sound that is reminscient of his influences Marvin Gaye, Billie Holiday, and Miles Davis. Grooving on tracks like I Need You In My Life and revealing his deepest feelings on the ballad Now, Barsheem gives his all to produce tracks to ignite any sort of feeling you may have in your body for someone. He also remakes the classic from Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell, If This World Were Mine. Altogether this album is a perfect treat for the lovers out there that want to hear something new, from someone new.
Barsheem already has some outstanding credits on his resume including having a minor role in the 2006 film Dreamgirls, staring as one of The Tru Tones (seen below). He also had his socially conscious track (White World, Black World) Find Happy noticed by his idol, Marvin Gaye’s children Janis and Nona Gaye, which led them to invite Barsheem to Washington D.C. to perform at the celebration of what would have been Gaye’s 74th birthday.
Although the album will not be available until tomorrow, you can preview some of the tracks below along with pre-ordering. Also be sure to follow Barsheem on Twitter and Facebook to stay tuned to any upcoming projects he may be working on.
