Top 5 Performances From BET’s 2014 Celebration of Gospel

2014 celebration of gospel
The lines of R&B, Rap, and Gospel are blurring more and more nowadays, but every year BET’s Celebration of Gospel strives to bring together the best in the industry to stay true to the genre and worship God. While Steve Harvey has a million and one jobs, the torch was passed this year to actress Taraji P. Henson. Though she lacked the humor that we were used to in past productions, she was a decent hosts and for what she lacked the performances made up for. While every performer did an amazing job last night, below are a list of the performers that moved me the most!

1. Jonathan McRenoylds & India Arie
This duet brought goosebumps and chills as the duo sung a melody of No Grey, Get It Together, and Moved By You.

2. Kem & Le’Andria & Eddie Levert
These three soulful singers held all held their own as they did their own rendition of Jesus Is The Love Of My Life.

3. Charlie Wilson
My R&B grandaddy brought the house DOWN as he told his testimony and initiated a praise break!

4. Chante Moore & Vashawn Mitchell
While many think that Mariah Carey is the only singer capable of hitting that glass-shattering octave, Chante Moore proves time and time again that not only can she do it, but she can do it LIVE! She puts them vocals to work performing my favorite track off her latest album Moore Is More called Jesus, I Want You and does a duet with Vashawn Mitchell, ending with Chasing After You.
Watch the performance here.

5. Tribute To Richard Smallwood
One of the living legends in Gospel music was honored by the likes of Donnie McClurkin, Yolanda Adams, and American Idol winner Candice Glover, singing a superb melody of his hits.

Did I miss anything? Let me know below what YOUR favorite performance was 🙂
