1. Solange vs. Jay Z Elevator Fight
This week has been dominated by the elevator fight seen around the world: Jay Z vs. Solange, while Queen Bee stands in the background. Much of the week went with us speculating on what could have led to Solange to go straight Debo on Hov. While you can read the Olivia Pope-esque recovery statement below, I still detect that something juicy is going on, and I relay back to the theory that I have had for years that Jay Z has been dabbling in some extramarital affairs. What else would make a sister go off like that, especially if she wasn’t drunk? One thing for sure, is that Beyonce’s passive response is proof that this type of activity in the family is definitely not new. And with Jay and Bey hitting the road for the On The Run tour this summer, only time will tell if things will work out.
As a result of the public release of the elevator security footage from Monday, May 5th, there has been a great deal of speculation about what triggered the unfortunate incident. But the most important thing is that our family has worked through it. Jay and Solange each assume their share of responsibility for what has occurred. They both acknowledge their role in this private matter that has played out in the public. They both have apologized to each other and we have moved forward as a united family. The reports of Solange being intoxicated or displaying erratic behavior throughout that evening are simply false. At the end of the day, families have problems and we’re no different. We love each other and above all we are family. We’ve put this behind us and hope everyone else will do the same.
2. Jill Scott To Receive Honorary Degree From Temple University
Many may not know this, but before Jill Scott became a Grammy Award winning singer, she was at Temple University in Philadelphia studying secondary education. Yet, she unfortunately had to drop out due to financial reasons, but yesterday (May 15), Scott was presented with an Honorary Doctorate of Humane Letters Degree from the University! With such beauty, inside and out, no one deserves it more. So congratulations Miss Scott, but now can we get some new music? 🙂
3. 2014 BET Award Nominees Announced!
Another headline that Jay Z and Beyonce are leading are the 2014 BET Award Nominations! Bey and Jay lead with four nominations each, while Drake follows with three! On top of that, it was announced that Chris Rock will be hosting this year and it will sure be funny, but may not be an entertaining night performance wise seeing that most of the nominees may not perform. Jay Z and Beyonce rarely come to the awards, but fan fav Chris Brown may still be in jail, so it will interesting to see whom they get to perform.
