Top 5 Performances From The 2014 BET Awards (+ Winners)!

2014 bet awards

The BET Awards are always the highlight of music and “Black Twitter” alike. This year was absolutely no difference. Hosted by Chris Rock, who was the best host in years, the awards were filled with awkward waits, jaw-dropping moments, shade, misspelled honoree (Lionel Richie) and more shade. Below were my favorite moments, and of course the winners! Do not leave before letting me know YOUR favorite moment below!

1. Chris Brown Returns
These girls might not be loyal, but Chris Brown is surely loyal to his fans. After it being rumored all week, Breezy had his post-jail performance on the BET stage. Performing none other than his smash Loyal, (with girlfriend Karrueche cheering along) before an impromptu drum solo from Travis Barker, allowing Brown to show jail has not hurt his dance moves.

2. John Legend & Jhene Aiko Sail Souls
Who would have known that these two voices would have fit perfectly together for a match made in heaven! While John Legend performs You & I, he takes to the piano to accompany Jhene Aiko as she performs The Worst. I must say, over the past couple of years, Jhene Aiko is growing much more confident in her voice and sounding so much stronger!

3. Nicki Minaj Pops Pills N Potions
Nicki Minaj performed at the awards, rode a motorcycle, and danced with bunnies, blah, blah, blah. This, however, was not the highlight of Minaj’s night. The shade (hunny) took over and could not be contained. I am not a fan of Iggy Azalea and though Minaj may not be the most authentic rapper ever, she still can spit her own bars, and no one can take that away from her. No, no, no shade.

4. 90’s R&B Groups Revived
We were told we were going to get the reunion of the lifetime and we kind of (not really) did. Troop, Color Me Badd (some of theme), and Silk returned to the stage to perform that one single that launched them into stardom. Baby-making session begin.

5. Back Down Memory Lane With Usher
Usher may be a Good Kisser now, but fans will always remember him for the multitude of hits he has given us over the years. Nice & Slow. Yeah!. Confessions. Caught Up. The list goes on and on, and Usher performs all of his hits in a medley that is worth a rewind!
