You have seen the trailer for the Get On Up movie, but now you can see the finished product tomorrow, August 1, (or tonight) when it hits theaters! The story of James Brown is fascinating in itself, especially analyzing his life of poverty and then skyrocketing into stardom! The movie will no doubt introduce the legend to the younger audience, but also set the record straight and help the rest of us remember and appreciate the genius man that gave us songs that still live through Hip-Hop samples today.
One thing about James Brown that I enjoyed the most, was his ability to empower African-Americans during a time when they were being torn down because of their race. One of those songs that he did that on was Say It Loud (I’m Black And I’m Proud). The song itself is self-explanatory, but is needed still in 2014, where unfortunately racism still exists. This Throwback Thursday we remember Brown and all that he did not only for music, but for the African-American race!
