We already celebrated the success of Purple Rain last month, when July 7 marked the thirty year anniversary of When Doves Cry started its’ five week stint at Number One! Now today, August 4, marked another thirty year anniversary for Purple Rain. This is because on this date in 1984, the Purple Rain soundtrack started an astonishing twenty-four week stint at number one! This soundtrack not only helped Prince win multiple Grammy’s, but also an Oscar for Best Original Score! Purple Rain is the best selling soundtrack of all time, but I think many music lovers like myself would agree that it is number one! Again, Prince does not allow his music online, but you can enjoy the sounds of Purple Rain by purchasing it here!
