I do not remember much from fourth grade, but September 11, 2001 is one day that I remember vividly. The terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center in New York City is what scarred our minds, as we lost so many innocent American lives. Yet, that very same tragedy helped us come together: not by race, gender, or creed, but by being one nation as a unit.
I remember being called out of class early and being excited to hear my name on the intercom. Yet, by the time I got home, that excitement turned into fear, while I constantly saw the images of the plane hitting the World Trade Center. Ever 9/11 those events replay in my head and though we can never fix that moment, we can remember those who lost their lives and keep their legacy going by teaching future generations of that day. This Throwback Thursday, I want to acknowledge how far New York has come from that day with Jay Z and Alicia Key’s Empire State Of Mind and also remind you all to never forget 9/11!
