Although some people are STILL dragging Wendy Williams over that messy Aaliyah biopic, she pulled together a brave, pre-taped face to host the 2014 Soul Train Awards! One thing that Wendy can do is talk, so that made the show move along, even though I expected more shade from her (side eye). Nevertheless, you can aways count on the soul to make up for this dry awards show season. So many memorable moments, including Jodeci’s lip-syncing and Davonte’s struggle ponytail, but below are my favorites.
1. Chris Brown Medley!
If you are going to the Between The Sheets tour next year, this opening performance is the perfect thing to watch to get you in the mood for it. As if you need anything other than the name Chris Brown to get you in the mood.
2. Tinashe Makes Us All RUN To The Gym!
All I have to say is, who wouldn’t love to get 2 On with this beauty?
3. Kem & Ledisi Bring The Soul!
Whether you are in love or not, these two singers with their beautiful voices will bring chills to even the devil’s spine.
4. Kool & The Gang Tribute!
Some artists can not even last five years in the industry, let alone FIFTY! Kool & The Gang has contributed so much to Rap and R&B with their unique sounds. Dougie Fresh, Elle Varner, Tank, Mase (yes Pastor Mase) and many more came out and perfromed to honor this ground-breaking group!
5. Ladies Night!
For a song they have not performed in close to twenty years, Missy, Da Brat, and my boo Lil’Kim came together to shut down the house for a ladies night! They even included a touching video of Left Eye performing her verse.
RIP Left Eye.
